So I just saw The Duchess where Keira Knightley stars as Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire who’s in a love rectangle with her husband, her lover, and her husband’s lover.  I liked Keira’s makeup in the film, it wasn’t overly done, but it still rung true to the era.  Makeup artist, Daniel Philips said “in brief, I would describe Keira’s look as a soft, muted, pretty and ethereal version of late 18th century make-up based on painting by Joshua Reynolds and Mary Cosway – prolific painters of the period.  It’s about finding a ‘middle ground’ on what otherwise be a garish make-up period.”

Personally, I love DIY beauty treatments.  They’re always so fun.  Plus, they’re always so economical, which is always good thing in this sour economical climate.  Well, it seems that Catherine Zeta Jones is also a fan of at-home beauty treatments.  The actress revealed some of her favorite beauty tips in the recent issue of Interview Magazine.

• For healthy skin, an at-home beauty scrub: “I rub a mixture of honey and salt all over my body to moisturize and exfoliate. You wash it off and your skin is gorgeous.”
• For shiny, healthy hair, a conditioner: “I do condition my hair with honey and beer. I smell like the bottom of a beer barrel for days afterwards but it’s very good for the hair.”
• For polish teeth, fruit:  “…I love to eat an apple after a meal, just to cleanse my teeth – they always look polished afterwards. The juice or pulp of strawberries contains malic acid which serves as an astringent and can lighten surface stains. Pineapples work the same way.”

Actresses Gabrielle Union and Lisa Edelstein both wore the one-shouldered Reem Acra gown.  Gabrielle was glamourous in black at the BET Honors, while Lisa was ravishing in red at the SAG Awards.  So who do you think rocked it better, the Cadillac Records actress or the House actress?

Recently, Rosario Dawson wore the champagne Dolce & Gabbana mermaid gown at the 2009 SAG Awards.  Rihanna also wore the same dress, only in green, to the World Music Awards in Monaco in 07.  So who do you think rocked it better?

Frederic Fekkai stylist, Renato Campora, created Kate’s glamorous hairdo – side swept bangs and a low bun – for the 09 SAG Awards.  Here’s how to get the look:

Renato applied Frederic Fekkai More All Day Density Styling Whip to wet hair for volume.  Apply Frederic Fekkai Coif Magnifique Ultra-Light Finishing Creme to the ends.  Then blow dry hair using a large round brush.  Part to one side.  Then once hair is dry, use a one inch curling to curl hair throughout.  Apply Frederic Fekkai Technician Glaze, starting at the ends and work your way through.  Next, create height by teasing the top of your head lightly.  Pull hair into a low ponytail.  Loosely braid hair and twist it to form a bun, then secure with bobby pins.

Randomly curl hair.  To ensure volume, spray David Babaii for WildAid Volcanic Ash Root Amplifier.  To create height, slightly back comb sections of hair and smooth out with a brush.  Then create a low bun at the nape of the neck by gathering sections of curls, secure with bobby pins.  Spray with David Babaii for WildAid Mise En Plis Extra Hold Styling Spray to finish the look.

I loved Anne Hathaway’s look at the 2009 SAG Awards.  It was simple and classic.  Her makeup also played into the simple and classic look when Kate Lee, celebrity makeup artist, created a dramatic smokey eye by applying dark eyeliner to the upper lash line.  Here are the other products that were used:

• Amy Adams - I love the deep plum color of the Giambattista Valli gown.  I liked the corseted bodice and the gathered detailing on the front.  I just love the dress!  I liked that Amy left her neck bare and just went with H. Stern earrings instead.  
• Anne Hathaway - Anne is one of my favorite celebrity to watch on the red carpet, she always wears something different at every award show.  This time around, she went for a feminine, goddess look with a figure-hugging white Azzaro gown.  She looks stunning.  Love the hair.  The whole look is soft, feminine, simple, and chic.  
• Evan Rachel Wood - The teal Monique Lhuillier off-the-shoulder gown was quite breathtaking.  She looked stunning.  Love the look – well, except for the hair color.  The dress, though, is stunning.  It’s simple and timeless.  The whole look is very feminine and romantic.  The purple Sergio Rossi shoes and clutch added a pop of color.
• Taraji Henson - There were lots of white gowns on the red carpet on Sunday night, and this stunning Herve Leroux gown ties with the Azzaro gown that Anne Hathaway wore for my favorite of white gown of the night.  The figure-enhancing halter gown was made of silk jersey.  The dress fitted her amazingly.  She looked spectacular.
