Happy Inauguration Day everyone! While this day is of huge historic importance, I’m going to tackle the more superficial aspect of it, the fashion of course. First Lady, Michelle Obama’s lemon-grass yellow dress is smack in the middle of a heated fashion debate. Some love it. Some hate it.
Michelle wore the bright and colorful custom Isabel Toledo coat and dress for the swearing-in ceremony this morning. The Cuban-born designer, Isabel Toledo, choose the bright lemon-grass yellow because she wanted to “pick a very optimistic color,” very fitting, don’t you think? The designs were made of Swiss wool lace and lines in a pale pink French silk. She finished off the outfit with even more color – olive green gloves and teal Jimmy Choo shoes.
While the outfit may not have been the best, I still like it. It was unexpected. I liked that she experimented with color and texture. What do you think of the First Lady’s fashion choice, fab or drab?
P.S. Sasha and Malia were adorable in their custom color J. Crew coats.
