Call me naïve, but I never knew that celebrities got paid to sit front row at a fashion show. I thought it was pretty much a mutualistic symbiotic relationship. The designer and the celebrities both get publicity for the celebrities’s attendance. The celebrities get free clothes from the designers. The celebrities get photographed in said clothes and the designer gets more coverage. That’s what I thought went on. But no, it turns out there’s more to the equation. Celebrities actually get paid to attend a fashion show. But now that I think about it, it makes sense. As the saying goes, time is money. Celebrities get paid to attend events and clubs, some even gets paid to twitter. So why not get paid to sit fashionably in the front row? What a life, right? Celebs get their hair and makeup done, get free clothes, swag, sometimes they even get airfare, and on top of all that they get a paycheck. The perks just keep rolling in. Sigh, I wish someone would pay me to sit front row at a major fashion show, actually they wouldn’t have to pay me at all, I would glady attend for free and stand in the back. Color me envious.
The face of Mango, Scarlett Johansson has partnered up with the Spanish retailer to design a handbag to benefit the victims of the Haiti earthquake. The handbag is a simple tote with an ancient cartography of Haiti print and contains the message “Supporting the people of Haiti. Designed by Scarlett Johansson” written on top. The tote will be available in March for $29.90. Part of the proceeds will be donated to Oxfam International’s Haiti Earthquake Response Fund.
