Remember the Twilight perfume? Well, it seems like there’s no Twilight inspired beauty products coming our way. A nine-piece collection of Twilight themed beauty products will be launched in May. However, these products will be geared towards the post-teenage crowd, unlike the current products out now at Hot Topic and such. Some examples of products to be released are Sparkles of Edward bath salts, a Cullen Complexion face mask, Fang tooth whitener, and Volturi Vixen sunblock.
Lindsay Lohan is launching a new mist self-tanner callerd Sevin Nyne ($35), named for Lindsay’s favorite numbers. The self tanner will be formulated with the standard DHA to darken the skin. And for a more environmental approach caramels will be used in lieu of artificial colors and there’s chardonnay extracts and goji berry for the skin. The product will take two to five hours for the colors to develop and the color is expected to last up to four or five days. The self-tanner will be available on Sephora.com starting on April 15 and will be in Sephora stores for six months beginning May 1st.
Every loves getting pampered, especially before an important date or event. To look your best and ensure optimal results, you should book your beauty appointment ahead of time of said event. That said, if you’re unsure of when to schedule your appoints, no worries cause I have the 411 right here:
Facials: One week before so that your skin looks great. This also allows for recovery time if any post facial breakouts or redness occur.
Professional Glycolic Peel: Five to seven days before. Redness from peels usually last for only a day, but you’ll want to have some time in between your peel and the event in case complications arise, so that your skin will have time to heel. It is also important to stay away from the sun after a glycolic peel.
At-Home Glycolic Peel: Two days ahead. Since the concentration of acid is lower in at-home peels you won’t need as much time in between the peel and the event.
Microdermabrasion: Two days to three months ahead of time. Why such a huge discrepancy? It’s because, it depends on how many sessions you’re going to get. For maximum results, most dermatologist recommend a minimum of four to six treatments spaced two weeks apart. However, if you’re only looking to get one session, then you should get it one or two days before, since there’s no down time for procedure.
Waxing: One week before, especially for facial hair. This allows for any redness or tiny bumps to subside.
Threading: The day before or the day of the event. There’s redness associated with threading, but it quickly subsides.
Manicure & Pedicure: The day before or the day of the date, so that it’s still fresh.
Botox: Two weeks ahead of the big day. Mild bruising may occur where botox was injected, so it will need time to heal. Also botox takes time to see real results.
Body Wrap: One to five days before. For optimal results, you should do two wraps (or more). There should a couple of days in between wraps. The last of the wraps should be one or two days before the date.
Serena joined the somber crowd in a black trench coat. Under the trench she wore a one-shouldered LBD mini and a beaded necklace. And while the dress was cute, I thought it was a little inappropriate for a funeral. Come on, who wears a an asymmetrical mini LBD to a funeral?
I already brought you the pictures from the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, so now it’s time for the makeup breakdown. The theme for the 2008 show was “Return to Glamour.” And they certainly achieved it, all the models looked sexy and glamorous. Charlotte Tilbury, lead makeup artist for the show said that the overall look is a “doe-eyed Bambi. It is a little bit dreamy; like a chic silhouette. There is an innocence to it.”
To help achieve the look, products from Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Makeup line was employed. When looking backstage one can always find products that aren’t from Victoria’s Secret, but of course, they wouldn’t release the names of non-Victoria’s Secret products. But I digress, so anyways…the models eyes were done up in some of my favorite glamourous neutral colors of shimmery golds and browns. Silky Eyeshadow in Chills, Mystified, Behind the Sheets, and Champagne were used. Eyes were lined with Eyeliner in Dark Chocolate. To create envious, luscious lashes use High Definition Mascara in Blackest Black on both the top and bottom lashes.
Cheekbones were sculpted with the help of Mosaic Bronzer in Goddess, Mosaic Blush in Love Life, and Heidi Klum Collection Blush in Jewels.
For playful, plump lips Perfect Lipstick in Whisper, a peachy color, was used. Then Lip Gloss in Intimate, a pale pink gloss, went on top of the previous color. And to complete the sexy pout, a nude brown color (Heidi Klum Collection Lip Gloss in Cupcake) was added.
And to create a bronzed glow befitting of the Miami locale where the show took place, Victoria’s Secret Bare Bronze Collection was utilized all over.
I love perusing the beauty aisles of Sephora, various department stores, or even drugstores. I could spend hours there. But you can also find great deals online. And while I like looking at beauty products online, I tend not to buy new products, in particular makeup, online. The reason is because sometimes, the color doesn’t always translate quite the same. So unless I’m just replacing items, I tend to make my purchases live. What about you?
Skin feeling a bit dull and lackluster? Don’t fret, just head over to your kitchen for aquick remedy. All you need is some extra virgin olive oil and sugar. Mix up a batch and scrub, scrub, scrub. This simple concoction is moisturizing and will leave your skin super soft.
There are a few variations to this simple recipe: some use regular oil instead of evoo, others use substitute salt, sea salt, or baking soda for sugar. You can certainly try different combinations to see which one works best for you. One caveat though, I don’t recommend using baking soda that so many recipes call for, since it’s way harsh for the skin.
Use for face and/or body. Okay for every skin condition. Give this a try and you’ll might ditch your favorite expensive exfoliator permanently – which might not be a bad thing in the state of this economy.
