“The SUNO hair look for this season is elegant and sophisticated. The unstructured back is a touch of naivety against the glamorous style in front. The sides are slicked back and the top is voluminous — both are almost wet with shine — creating gorgeous variety of textures. I was inspired by the idea of a young girl who slept in her elegant updo and kept it in the next morning.” — Odile Gilbert for Aveda
Marion Cotillard rocked a sweet ponytail with a deep part, side-swept bang at the premier of Little White Lies at the Toronto International Film Festival. It was cute and fresh, as well as a little Holly Golightly. Stylist Robert Vetica shares how he created the look:
1. Cut and reshape hair to make bangs more prominent.
“The undone, wavy look is sexy and unrestrained, inspired by a girl’s hair after she’s been in the water. It’s very soft and flowing with lots of texture to give it a natural messiness. It’s loose, second-day hair—like it was curled the day before and then left alone. Our collection this season is based around water. I love that the hair look evokes the salty, windblown feel of hair that’s dried after being in the ocean. The style definitely has some 1970’s, Charlie’s Angels inspiration but the finished look is completely fresh.” — John Patrick of Orangic by John Patrick
“The Jason Wu hair look for this season is simple yet sophisticated, with 1970’s inspiration. We’re braiding chiffon—scraps from the collection—into the hair and twisting the ends into a flower. This look captures the happiness and excitement of spring and summer.” – Odile Gilbert for Aveda
“The Christian Siriano hair look for this season is all about different cultures mixing and blending together. The style is a modern bun—full of attitude—with sections of crimped hair cascading over it for texture. It’s a strong, contemporary twist on the classic bun.” — Antoinette Beenders for Aveda

“We wanted to create a look that was very different from any that Emily had worn before. Once I saw the gown, I knew that a modern look based on the waved looks of the 20’s was the perfect compliment for the design.” — Lani Reeves, hair stylist and co-owner of Essensuals London Salon on Melrose
Frederic Fekkai stylist Renato Campora created an updo for Anna Paquin after being the inspired from the Alexander McQueen dress she wore. “The dress is very strong, and I wanted to show off her shoulders and neck,” explained Campora. Here’s how to get the look:
Have you’ve been watching Pretty Little Liars this summer? Have you figured out who A is yet? Well, even if you haven’t been watching the show you can certainly appreciate the photo spread that the cast of Pretty Little Liars did for InStyle magazine’s September issue, in which Ashley Benson, Torian Bellisario, Lucy Hale, and Shay Mitchell channeled beauty icons Brigette Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Brooke Shields, and Sophia Loren with the help of hairstylist Andy LeCompte and makeup artist Fiona Stiles.
“I used to wear my hair half up and half down when I was a little girl, but this is the grown-up version…I love the volume at the top.” – Ashley Benson
Scarlett Johansson debuted a new shorter ‘do at the 2010 Comicon. What do you think of the new shoulder-grazing tousled lob? Is ScarJo’s new ‘do fab or drab?
